Matching supplier column names to Square
A supplier might call its columns Item No, Cost Ea and Retail, where the Square import file (opens in a new tab) has SKU, Default Unit Cost and Price. On the Map step, each supplier column shows a guess. The guess comes from the header and from the values under it. Change any that are wrong.
When a header is new to the tool, it gets matched only if its values make the choice clear. For a quantity column, read how stock counts import into Square.

Two columns that both look like the price
Map the one you sell at. Each Square field takes one supplier column, and a list with both Retail and MAP (minimum advertised price) gives you two good candidates. Whichever you leave unmapped stays out of the Square file.
When the matches look right, save them as a supplier. The next file with the same headers gets those matches, even if the columns come in a different order. The supplier name also goes into Default Vendor Name on each new item.
Will a price list update items I already sell?
Only if you add your Square export next to it. On its own, the price list turns every row into a new item, and any row you reject is left out. That route is covered in how to create Square items from a supplier price list.
With the export added, each row is matched to your items by SKU first, then GTIN, then name. A matched row updates Price and Default Unit Cost inside your own export. Rows only the supplier has become new items after you approve them. If the list holds only new costs for items you already stock, update existing Square items fits better.
