How do I import items into Square from a spreadsheet?
Put your rows in Square's item layout, then upload the file in the Square Dashboard (opens in a new tab). In the item library, open Actions, choose Import library and drop the file in. Square asks you to confirm how the columns match, then runs the import, which can take a few minutes.

Problems to watch for on a first import
Look at prices first. A row with no price becomes a variable priced item in Square. The tool leaves Price empty when your file has no price, so check those rows before you import.
Any new value in the Categories column creates a new category, so a typo gives you a category you didn't want. A Tax column needs its rate in the header, such as Tax - Sales (7%). Photos can't go in the import file (opens in a new tab), so add them in the Dashboard afterwards.
